Sculptorul român Filip Marin (n.1865 – d. 1928), a studiat la Școala Națională de Arte Frumoase unde l-a avut profesor pe maestrul Frederic Storck. A continuat studiile la Academia de Arte Frumoase din Roma și a predat ca profesor titular de catedră la Școala de Arte Frumoase din București. A avut o expoziție personală la Ateneul Român în 1894 și a participat la numeroase expoziții colective. A fost autor al numeroase opere apreciate în epocă, „Cugetare”, „Ion Gheorghe Duca”, „Eminescu” și al cunoscutei „Nimfă adrmită” (actualmente în Parcul Regele Mihai I al României - fost Herăstrău), considerată „cel mai reușit nud din sculptura românească”.
